The event "SLEEP WEEK" took place between March 15–18 in the city of Plovdiv

On the occasion of World Sleep Day, mattress manufacturer TED BED hosted the event “Sleep Week” and welcomed hundreds of guests over 4 days at the cultural center “Business for Plovdiv,” Ivan Chernozemsky House in the Old Town.

 

The house that opened its doors to us is one of the most beautiful Revival period houses in the Old Town and is a cultural monument of local significance.

 

The program included lectures on interesting topics by sleep specialists from the Somnolog specialized sleep research laboratory at Plovdiv Medical University, Alexiev & son Neurology and Neurorehabilitation Medical Center, Sofia, and Inspiro Medical Center for Pulmonary Diseases and Sleep Medicine, Sofia.

 

Thanks to the careful selection of doctors: pathophysiologist, somnologist, orthopedist and traumatologist, children’s sleep consultant, neurologist, respiratory medicine and sleep medicine specialist, different perspectives and facts were presented, explaining the connection between our daily habits, overall health, and good sleep.

 

We express our sincere thanks to Assoc. Prof. Dr. K. Terziyski, Dr. Ya. Yanakiev, Dr. Elena Chapalova, Dr. A. Draganova, Dr. T. Georgiev, Denitsa Mitreva, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Milena Milanova, Dr. Philip Alexiev, Dr. Petar Chipev, and Marta Dzhambazova. It was truly a wonderful few days, during which we all had a lot of fun but also learned a lot.

 

Enthralled by the presentations, both we and the event visitors explored the specifics of sleep in depth, received many useful tips related to yoga practices, tea, aromatherapy before bed, and got answers to our questions.

 

Throughout the week, Plovdiv residents had the pleasure to stroll through Central Square, where they could visit the short tour of the open exhibition by TED, again focusing on Sleep Week.

 

We promise this event is the first in a series of many interesting initiatives aimed at informing people about the importance of night rest for all other aspects of life. Good sleep is crucial for productivity during the day, beauty, metabolism, sports performance, and mental health.
