Dr. Chris Idzikowski is the director of the Sleep Assessment and Advisory Service at the Edinburgh Sleep Research Centre. As a leading expert on sleep disorders and former chairman of the British Sleep Society, he surveyed just over 1,000 British adults to uncover the complex links between their sleeping positions and personalities. Based on the results, he made interesting conclusions and several intriguing discoveries:

 

  • The fetal sleeping position is the most common, especially among women. It may be associated with shyness, sensitivity, and a need for care and protection;
  • People who sleep on one side with their arms stretched forward are usually straightforward and open, but somewhat suspicious. They are principled and loyal, inclined to stick to their decisions;
  • Those who sleep on their stomachs, with raised arms or arms under the pillow, are extremely communicative and trust easily but have difficulty accepting criticism.
